Pay As You Go: the cheapest way to buy this volume, not just the first plan big enough.

Bars share one linear scale across the 3 counted stages, so a multiplier shows as length. Units differ by stage and are labelled. Cash is not on that scale.

100,000 standard searches → 100,000 requests → Pay As You Go $25.00/mo = $0.25 per 1,000 searches

The arithmetic, line by line
  1. standard searches: 1 request each source
  2. consumes 100,000 requests per month
  3. cheapest way to buy that: Pay As You Go at $0.25 per 1,000 requests = $25.00 per month source

Limits and terms

What Ceramic.ai publishes beyond the price: the limits a job runs into and the terms that change what a plan is worth. Each line links the page it comes from and the day it was read.

Speed, concurrency and sessions

What Ceramic.ai does not publish

What Ceramic.ai is

Ceramic.ai is a web search API for AI agents and LLM pipelines that searches its own index of more than 40 billion pages, built from publisher partnerships and crawling rather than by scraping another engine. It is a lexical search engine: it matches the words in your query, so it works best with keyword queries rather than conversational questions, and Ceramic recommends rewriting questions into several keyword variants. It covers English pages only for now. A search returns each result’s title, URL and a long description (Ceramic.ai FAQ; Ceramic docs FAQ, checked Oct 17, 2026).

How billing works

Pay as you go costs $0.25 per 1,000 queries with no monthly fee, and a new account gets 1,000 free queries without a credit card. Pro costs $99 a month, includes 495,000 queries, and bills anything past them at $0.20 per 1,000, a fifth off the pay-as-you-go rate. Included queries reset each billing period; credits you top up carry over (Ceramic.ai pricing, checked Oct 17, 2026).

So 100,000 searches a month cost $25 on pay as you go. Pro only pays off from 396,000 queries a month, the point where pay as you go also reaches $99; at a million queries Pro costs $200 against $250. Enterprise prices are by quote (Ceramic.ai pricing, checked Oct 17, 2026).

Three ways to buy it

Besides an account with Ceramic, you can buy the same search through Cloudflare’s Web Search API, now in open beta, where Ceramic.ai is the default provider. Paid with AI Gateway credits, each search is billed at Ceramic’s list price of $0.25 per 1,000 requests with no Cloudflare markup, and the searches show up in AI Gateway’s logs beside your model calls (Cloudflare Web Search API providers, checked Oct 17, 2026). An agent can also pay per search with no account or key, in USDC on Base through Cloudflare’s Monetization Gateway; the price per search comes in the gateway’s payment request, and failed searches are not charged that way (Ceramic agentic payments, checked Oct 17, 2026).

Before you buy

Throughput is 20 queries a second across your organization on pay as you go and 50 on Pro (Ceramic rate limits, checked Oct 17, 2026). Outside the payment gateway, Ceramic does not say whether a failed or empty search is billed. The pricing page compares Ceramic with competitors at “$14 per 1,000 queries”; that is its own benchmark, and most web search APIs here cost less, so compare on the web search API table rather than on that figure.

Who it suits

Ceramic.ai suits agents that run many keyword searches per task, where search would otherwise cost more than the model calls, and teams already on Cloudflare’s AI Gateway who want one bill. It suits less well a product whose users ask long natural-language questions, or one that needs pages in languages other than English.
