Both bills, step by step

Bright Data SERP API

  1. Successes you want

    100,000 standard searches

Your stated workload. Every vendor on this site is priced against this same number.

  2. × 1

    Attempts you are billed for

    100,000 standard searches

Bright Data SERP API does not bill failed fetches, so failures cost nothing here.

  3. × 1

    What the meter counts

    100,000 requests

One attempt is one billed unit for this workload.

  4. =

    Metered cash this month

    $142.50 /mo

Pay as you go: the cheapest way to buy this volume, not just the first plan big enough.

Bars share one linear scale across the 3 counted stages, so a multiplier shows as length. Units differ by stage and are labelled. Cash is not on that scale.

    100,000 standard searches

    See the note above.

  2. ÷ 1

    Attempts you are billed for

    100,000 standard searches

Failure billing is not published. This workload assumes no failures, so the missing rule does not change the bill.

  3. × 1

    What the meter counts

    100,000 searches

  4. =

    Metered cash this month

    $60.00 /mo

Standard Queue: the cheapest way to buy this volume, not just the first plan big enough.

Both ladders share one linear scale, topping out at 100,000 counted units, so a longer bar means more billed work rather than a different drawing.

These figures are for one stated workload: 100,000 standard search calls with one default-depth result set per call. Change the volume above and both bills, the verdict and the curve follow it.

Decision boundary: Bright Data’s first 5,000 requests each month are free, so below about 8,300 searches a month it costs less. Above that, DataForSEO’s Standard queue costs less at every volume: $0.0006 a results page, $60 for 100,000 searches against Bright Data’s $142.50 on pay as you go. The catch is speed. A Standard-queue task takes about 5 minutes on average, with a 45-minute target. Bright Data answers in real time. If you need live answers, compare Bright Data with DataForSEO’s Live mode at $0.002 a page: Bright Data is cheaper at every volume. (Bright Data SERP API pricing, DataForSEO Google Organic pricing, checked Oct 12, 2026)

DataForSEO’s Priority queue, about a minute at $0.0012 a page, sits in between. Bright Data is cheaper up to 25,000 searches, where both cost $30. DataForSEO is cheaper at 100,000 ($120 against $142.50) and at 500,000 ($600 against $655 on Bright Data’s $499 Scale plan). Bright Data’s $999 Scale step (read on Oct 9) is cheaper at 1,000,000 ($1,109 against $1,200). (Bright Data SERP API pricing, DataForSEO Google Organic pricing, checked Oct 12, 2026)

Billing models side by side

Bright Data bills per successful request. You can pay as you go at $1.50 per 1,000 requests, with a monthly spend limit you set, or buy a Scale plan: $499 a month includes 380,000 requests, and requests past that cost $1.30 per 1,000. The page’s slider also offers Scale steps at $999 (900,000 requests) and $1,999 (2,000,000), read on Oct 9, and Enterprise prices are custom. Parsing, unlocking, retries and bandwidth are included. Failed or errored requests are not billed, unless you turn on custom headers or cookies for the zone; then every request is billed. In async mode the request is billed and collecting the result is free. (Bright Data SERP API pricing, Bright Data billing docs, checked Oct 12, 2026)

DataForSEO has no plans. You top up a balance, $50 at least, and each task draws it down. The balance never expires. The billed unit is one results page of up to 10 organic results: $0.0006 in the Standard queue, $0.0012 in the Priority queue, $0.002 in Live mode. Location, language, device and result type do not change the price, and fetching a queued task’s results is free. (DataForSEO Google Organic pricing, DataForSEO pricing, checked Oct 12, 2026)

What raises a DataForSEO task’s cost is depth and options. Each extra 10 results is another page (a depth of 15 is billed as 20, two pages), and a search operator such as site: multiplies the price by 5. Pixel positions or the AI Overview add one base price each, and People Also Ask clicks cost $0.00015 each. If Google returns fewer results than the depth you asked for, the difference is refunded. (DataForSEO Google Organic pricing, checked Oct 12, 2026)

What each provides that the other does not

Bright Data is the only one of this pair with a free allowance that renews: 5,000 requests a month, with no credit card. It also bills only successful requests by default, and says it does not limit concurrency. Its pricing page lists JavaScript rendering, city and ZIP targeting, and desktop and mobile user agents, all in the request price. (Bright Data SERP API pricing, Bright Data billing docs, checked Oct 12, 2026)

DataForSEO is the only one of this pair that sells the same search at three speeds, so a nightly rank check can use the cheap queue and an app can use Live. It has no monthly commitment, and its balance never expires. New accounts get a $1 trial credit and a free Sandbox with sample responses. Its pages do not say whether a failed task is charged. Who should pick which

Pick DataForSEO for rank tracking and other batch work that can wait a few minutes: from about 8,300 searches a month its Standard queue costs less than half of Bright Data’s pay-as-you-go price. Remember the $50 first top-up: at 10,000 searches a month you pay $6 of usage, but $50 up front, which stays on the balance. Pick Bright Data for live results, for a small job that fits in 5,000 free requests a month, or when you want only successful requests billed. Above 900,000 live searches a month, check its Scale steps. (Bright Data SERP API pricing, DataForSEO Google Organic pricing, DataForSEO pricing, checked Oct 12, 2026)
