What Keenable's page offers now, for 100,000 standard searches a month
- Free allowance: covers all 100,000 of the job's searches a month. Every free tier compared
Before you buy in a sale
- Price your own volume, not the percentage: a discount on a plan bigger than you need can still cost more than the plan that fits. Every plan
- Count what one search costs: some APIs bill each page of results, or deeper results, as more than one search. What a credit buys
- Check the second bill: a discount on the first month or year may renew at the full price.
- Check whether unused credits roll over or lapse at the end of each month before you buy a bigger plan to get a bigger discount.
What makes it cost more
One page is not always one billed unit. These are Keenable's published charges for each kind of work.

Limits and terms
What Keenable publishes beyond the price: the limits a job runs into and the terms that change what a plan is worth. Each line links the page it comes from and the day it was read.
Speed, concurrency and sessions
- An account with an API key can send 10 requests a second across the organization, with no hourly cap; Keenable raises the limit on request. Without a key the limit is 1,000 requests an hour per IP address. source, read Oct 26, 2026
What you may do with the results, and how long they are kept
- The terms license search results for your internal business purposes only: not for resale, sublicensing or distribution on their own, and not for a service that competes with Keenable. source, read Oct 26, 2026
Credits, renewal and billing
- Once the free allowance and any bought credits are used up, searches return an error (HTTP 402) until you buy credits or the allowance renews; auto top-up can refill credits from a saved card. source, read Oct 26, 2026
Other terms
- Prices are set per organization, so Keenable advises reading what each call cost from its response; the documentation says a search and a fetch each cost one request. source, read Oct 26, 2026
- Payments are final and non-refundable unless Keenable decides otherwise, and Keenable gives at least 30 days' notice before it changes a price. source, read Oct 26, 2026
What Keenable does not publish
- Whether a failed or empty search made with an API key uses a credit is not published.
- The price of a live page fetch is not published.
- The smallest credit purchase in the console is not on a public page; auto top-up adds $5 to $10,000 at a time.
What Keenable is
Keenable is a web search API for AI agents that searches its own index, built with its own crawler and ranking, which it puts at more than 100 billion documents, rather than passing your query to Google or Bing. Its API opened to the public in April 2026. A search takes a plain-language query and returns up to 50 ranked results (10 by default), each with a title, URL, short description, a longer snippet you can size from 180 to 10,000 characters, the date the page was published and the date Keenable indexed it. You can limit results to one site, filter by either date, or search the index as it stood at a past moment. A second endpoint, Fetch, returns a page as Markdown with its title and author. Both are also served as an MCP server, so agents in Claude, Cursor, Codex and similar tools can call them directly (Keenable; About Keenable; Search API reference; changelog, checked Oct 21, 2026).
How billing works
Every account gets 100,000 requests a month free, and the allowance renews each month. A search costs one request and so does a fetch of Keenable’s stored copy of a page. Past the allowance you pay $4 per 1,000 requests from prepaid credits, with no monthly fee, and free requests are always used before the credits you have bought (Keenable pricing; Keenable credits; auto top-up, checked Oct 26, 2026).
So up to 100,000 searches a month cost nothing. At 200,000 you pay $400 (100,000 paid searches at $4 per 1,000), and at a million $3,600. Searches run in one of two modes, “pro” (the default, for deeper retrieval) and “realtime” (for speed); Keenable bills each mode separately but says a search costs one request either way, and since prices are set per organization, each response reports what the call cost (Keenable credits, checked Oct 26, 2026).
When the free requests and your credits are both used up, searches fail with an error until you buy more or the month renews. Auto top-up avoids that: you pick a balance threshold and an amount between $5 and $10,000, Keenable charges your saved card when the balance drops below it, and a monthly limit caps the total. Credits added this way never expire (Keenable credits; auto top-up, checked Oct 26, 2026).
The Frontier tier, for AI labs and inference platforms, is listed at $1 per 1,000 requests for buyers who send 100 requests a second or more, about 259 million a month if kept up all month, with dedicated capacity in Keenable’s cloud or on your own servers, arranged with its team (Keenable pricing, checked Oct 26, 2026).
Other ways to pay
You can try the API without an account: requests with no key cost nothing and use no allowance, but they share a pool of 1,000 an hour per IP address. An agent with no account can also pay $0.01 per request in USDC on Base over the x402 protocol, which is $10 per 1,000, or buy prepaid credit through the ZeroClick agent storefront from $0.50 at the same $4 per 1,000 as an account (Keenable rate limits; pay per request, checked Oct 26, 2026).
Before you buy
An account can send 10 requests a second across the whole organization, with no hourly cap; Keenable raises that on request (Keenable rate limits, checked Oct 26, 2026). Keenable does not say whether a failed search made with an API key uses a credit; paid per request over x402, a response with an error status is never charged. A live fetch straight from the source page is billed apart from a stored-copy fetch, at a price not published, and the smallest credit purchase in the console is not on a public page (pay per request; Keenable credits, checked Oct 26, 2026).
Read the terms before you build on the results: they license them for your internal business purposes only, not for resale, for distribution on their own or for a service that competes with Keenable. Payments are non-refundable unless Keenable decides otherwise, and price changes come with at least 30 days’ notice (Keenable terms of service, checked Oct 26, 2026).
Who it suits
Keenable suits agents and prototypes that run up to 100,000 searches or page fetches a month, which the free allowance covers, and work that needs dated results, since each result can carry its published and indexed dates and a search can run against the index as it stood on a past day. Past about 107,000 searches a month Ceramic.ai’s $0.25 per 1,000 costs less, and at a million searches several APIs on the web search API table cost a fraction of Keenable’s $3,600, so a steady high-volume workload should compare it there first.
