The boundary
After recurring and signup free allowances are excluded, SerpApi is lower for paid successful SERP requests on a shared supported engine through 1,000 searches a month. At 1,001 searches, the SerpApi entry allowance is exhausted while SearchApi.io’s first paid allowance still has substantial room, so SearchApi.io becomes lower and remains lower through the tested one-million-search range. The boundary is the first paid-plan ceiling, not a claim that one API produces better search results. A project that stays reliably at or below 1,000 paid searches fits a different purchase than one that only occasionally spikes above that line. The calculation counts one successful request as one search. SearchApi.io says only an HTTP 200 response consumes a search. SerpApi says cached, errored, and failed searches do not count toward the monthly allowance, and a successful search counts once regardless of whether it returns many results or no results. That makes their baseline units close enough to compare, but engine availability and requested parameters still have to match. How the billing models differ
Both products sell monthly request bundles without a published automatic overage rate on the regular self-serve ladder. SearchApi.io publishes eight regular-speed tiers and describes an enhanced-speed option whose public page text does not expose a fixed price. Pick SerpApi when the job remains at or below 1,000 monthly successful searches, its engine coverage is required, or its published plan throughput better matches a short batch. Pick SearchApi.io from 1,001 searches upward within the shared tested range when its regular-speed endpoint supports the target and the workload fits its hourly limit. If enhanced speed, a niche endpoint, cached responses, or zero retention is required, establish eligibility and quote status before using the volume boundary.
