What each scraping error costs
A failed request is not always a free one. These are the errors scraping APIs publish a charging rule for: what each means when you scrape, who bills it, and what fixing it costs.
403 Forbidden The site refused the request, usually its bot protection Free on 4 of 5 APIs that name it; the protected mode that fixes it costs 3.4 times the plain rate 404 Not Found The page does not exist at that address Charged on all 7 APIs whose rule names it 429 Too Many Requests Too many requests too fast, for the site or for your plan Free on 5 APIs that cover it; about $100 a month buys 50 requests at once
A 5xx from the site, a timeout and a CAPTCHA wall have fewer published rules; the status answer sets every rule side by side, and getting past reCAPTCHA has its own page.
